Michelle Barbera


Michelle has performed, written, and produced comedy in Boston for over a decade. She was a member of ImprovBoston's mainstage for over four years and co-directed the Tribe Theatre. Michelle has directed numerous improv troupes, sketch shows, and has taught improv master classes and workshops. She founded and co-produces the award-winning WMAM films, which has screened films nationally at the Independent Television Festival, Boston Film Festival, Filmapalooza, and her personal favorite, the Zompire Film Festival. Michelle is also an illustrator and graphic designer and created the WICF comedy robot!

Maria Ciampa


Twice nominated Best Stand up Comedian by Boston Phoenix, Maria has been Comic in Residence at the Comedy Studio and a finalist in the Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival. Maria is an alumna of Improv Asylum's Mainstage, where she wrote sketch and performed improv and sketch, did corporate shows and training and taught comedy. As co-director and creator of the ImprovBoston Women in Comedy Festival, Maria has performed with some of her favorite comedians, like Maria Bamford, a coincidental name twin.


Elyse Schuerman


Elyse has been a performer, director, instructor, and managing director. She has performed in a number of ImprovBoston shows: Bluescreen, Comedia d'ell High School, Boston Creem, ImprovBoston Holiday Spectacular, George and Martha, Writer's Block, BackStory, and Gorefest I-V. She also directed Micetro, UnNatural Selection, Trail Mix, and created/directed Radio Hour and Misunderstood: An Improvised Rock Opera. She performed in the Del Close Longform festival and The Scene, both in New York and at the Chicago Improv Festival. Elyse has studied under Master instructors such as Joe Bill, Susan Messing, Mick Napier, Todd Stashwick, and Keith Johnstone. Elyse has taught adults at ImprovBoston and ImprovNashville and young students throughout Massachusetts. Elyse graduated with a BA in Theatre and Education from Flagler College in Florida.


Associate Producer

Christine has been performing improvisational comedy for over 20 years. She is a founding member and Creative Director of Boston Comedy Theatre, a troupe that specializes in corporate performances and training, an alumni member of ImprovBoston, Improv Asylum and has performed with The U.S. Improvisational Theater League. Christine was one of six improvisers chosen to represent the United States at the "Just For Laughs Improv Championship" in Montreal.


Associate Producer

Valerie Frank has been an improv comedian and a major gifts fundraiser. She is currently parenting, rabble rousing and making dirty jokes at inappropriate moments in suburbia. She is an alumna of the ImprovBoston Mainstage Cast and is thrilled to return to the Boston comedy scene, managing the judging process for the Women in Comedy Festival.


Associate Producer

Michelle McNulty started performing weekly at ImprovBoston in 2002 as part of the Micetro & UnNatural Selection casts. She currently performs in Friday Night Faceoff. She has performed in several past Showcase Shows including The Robert Cycle, Backstory, Playbook, Luv Boat, Agent Spy and Convoy. She has performed in & written for numerous sketch shows including the Ruckus, Off Book, Tales from the Script, Skitches, the ImprovBoston Holiday Spectacular & the Mumbling Prophets. She has appeared in several scripted shows including French Kiss Me Kate, Atreus and Double Feature. Her first original play, Turning Out the Lights, recently debuted as part of Double Feature. She spent twelve of her first sixteen years dancing and has provided choreography for Gorefest, French Kiss Me Kate, Tales from the Script, Groaners and Boners: Schtick it to Vaudeville & the Boston News Net: Election Night Special. Michelle will attempt stand-up comedy, especially if you buy her a drink first.


Associate Producer

Dave Sawyer is a Boston-area actor, comedian, teacher, and professional web smarty-pants. He has performed at comedy festivals around the U.S. including the San Francisco Improv Festival, The Chicago Improv Festival, Out of Bounds Festival (Austin), The Spontaneous Combustion Festival (Atlanta), and the Providence Improv Festival. Dave's international festival appearances include the Tokyo Impro Festival and the ImproSport Festival in Puerto Rico where he performed in spanish alongside competing acts from Mexico, South America, and Spain. His two-man sketch show - Sawyer & Hurley - has been featured at the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival and the Boston Improv Festival. Today, you can catch him on Saturday nights at ImprovBoston where he is a member of the Mainstage cast. He also teaches improv and comedy writing at ImprovBoston and makes improvised movies with Neutrino. Josh Garneau brings his extensive technical and creative theater experience to WICF. Even during the most hectic planning and performance periods, Josh is a calm, kind, and competent center of calm for performers and staff alike. His contributions and dedication are indispensable to WICF.
